Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Subaru BRZ ZD8
What is the original offset for the wheels of a Subaru BRZ ZD8?
Its Swiss vehicle type records permit only one wheel: 7.5J x 18 with an offset of 48, the same on both axles. [4, 5]
Which tyres, and which load index, does a Subaru BRZ ZD8 take?
215/40 R18 of load index 85 on both axles, i.e. 515 kg per tyre. [4, 5, 6]
What is the load per wheel on a Subaru BRZ ZD8?
Its Swiss vehicle type record gives it a permissible load of 876 kg on the front axle and 943 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 438 and 471.5 kg per wheel. [4, 5]
What PCD, centre bore and nuts does a Subaru BRZ ZD8 use?
The PCD is 5x100, the centre bore 56.1 mm, and the wheels are held by M12 x 1.25 nuts tightened to 120 Nm: wheelfitment.eu, koleso.ee and SCC give these measurements. [1, 2, 3]
Same fixing measurements
As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the Subaru BRZ ZD8: PCD 5x100, centre bore 56.1 mm, thread M12 x 1.25, fixing: wheel nuts.
- Toyota GR86 ZN8 (since 2022)
Same fixing measurements; original diameters and offsets: see each car's page. The seat of the bolts or nuts, the width of the wheels and brake clearance are not compared here: this comparison is not an opinion on compatibility.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 21 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

BRZ ZD8: 5x100, a 56.1 mm hub, M12 x 1.25 nuts
The second-generation Subaru BRZ (ZD8), dated 2021 by SCC and koleso.ee, uses 5x100 on a 56.1 mm hub, with M12 x 1.25 wheel nuts tightened to 120 Nm: wheelfitment.eu, koleso.ee and SCC give these measurements, each cited in the table. No Subaru manual has been read: the torque comes from these three databases, which agree.
Only one fitment permitted: 7.5J x 18, an offset of 48
The vehicle type record of the Swiss Federal Roads Office (ASTRA), the document that sets the tyre and wheel combinations a car may carry, permits only one wheel for the 172 kW BRZ 2.4i, with a manual or an automatic gearbox: 7.5J x 18 with an offset of 48, the same on both axles, with 215/40 R18 tyres. Its twin, the Toyota GR86, has the same hub measurements and also permits a wheel one inch smaller.
Load per wheel
The record gives a permissible load of 876 kg on the front axle and 943 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 438 and 471.5 kg per wheel: on this rear-wheel-drive car, the rear carries more. The 215/40 R18 tyre must keep at least the load index of the original fitment, 85 (reading a tyre (page in French)).
What these measurements say about a forged wheel
The offset positions the wheel in the wheel arch: a wider wheel, or a lower offset, brings it closer to the wing. The Onyx Forged design office starts from the measurements on this page, your brakes and your tyres to calculate the width and offset of your wheels, then submits them to you. The offset calculator compares two fitments: it compares, it does not choose the measurement for you.
Roadworthiness test: what is examined
The French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique) examines the wheel without removing it (cracks, deformation, a wheel that protrudes beyond the bodywork) and verifies that the tyre size is one provided for by the manufacturer or accepted as equivalent. Keeping a tyre size from the original fitment, and at least its load index, avoids having to justify it; the details are on the roadworthiness test and registration page.
What we record before machining
- The exact version, stated on the registration document, and the current diameter of your wheels.
- The braking system, on which the smallest possible diameter depends (wheels and brakes (page in French)).
- The current fitment, axle by axle, and the 56.1 mm hub bore.
Configure your forged wheels for the Subaru BRZ (ZD8)
The Onyx Forged design office works out the measurements of your car from its exact version, stated on the registration document, and shows them to you before machining. Each set is cut from forged 6061-T6 aluminium, machined on a 5-axis CNC centre, as monoblock, two-piece or three-piece wheels; our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards. Prices by diameter and the lead time are given on this page, under “What Onyx can make”. Start your configuration or write to contact@onyxforgedwheels.com.
