Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Nissan GT-R R35
What are the original offsets for the wheels of a Nissan GT-R R35?
A staggered fitment, according to the Swiss vehicle type records: at the rear, 10.5J x 20 with an offset of 25; at the front, 9.5J x 20 with an offset of 45 and, from the November 2013 record onwards, 10J x 20 with an offset of 41. On the 441 kW GT-R, only the 10J front wheel is permitted. [10, 13, 18]
Which tyres, and which load index, does a Nissan GT-R R35 take?
255/40 ZRF20 at the front and 285/35 ZRF20 at the rear, on 20-inch wheels; the Swiss vehicle type records from 2009 to 2015 give them load indices 97 and 100, i.e. 730 and 800 kg per tyre, and Nissan's Japanese owner's manual gives reinforced (XL) tyres of indices 101 and 104. [10, 14, 17, 22]
What is the load per wheel on a Nissan GT-R R35?
Since the July 2014 record, the permissible load is 1,080 kg on the front axle and 1,165 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 540 kg per front wheel and 582.5 kg per rear wheel. The rear tyre of load index 100 carries 800 kg. [14, 18, 22]
What PCD, centre bore and nuts does a Nissan GT-R R35 use?
The PCD is 5x114.3 and the centre bore 66.1 mm, and the wheels are held by nuts: SCC, wheelfitment.eu and koleso.ee give these measurements, and Nissan's owner's manual names the wheel nuts. The thread is not published: M12 x 1.25 according to these databases, but M14 x 1.5 on the NISMO according to SCC and koleso.ee, which another koleso.ee record contradicts. [2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9]
What is the tightening torque for the nuts on a Nissan GT-R?
Nissan's Japanese owner's manual gives 132 N·m, and 155 N·m on the Premium edition T-spec, NISMO, Special edition, Track edition and Track edition T-spec; the locking wheel nuts are tightened to the same torque as the others. The 2017 US manual gives 132 N·m, and 155 N·m on the NISMO. [9, 17]
Which front wheel does a Nissan GT-R take, depending on its trim?
Nissan's Japanese owner's manual gives a 20-inch 9.5J front wheel with an offset of 45, and a 10J one with an offset of 41 on the Premium edition T-spec, NISMO, Special edition, Track edition and Track edition T-spec; the rear wheel is 10.5J with an offset of 25 on all of them. The Swiss vehicle type records permit the same wheels. [13, 17, 18]
Which brakes does a Nissan GT-R R35 have?
Six-piston monobloc Brembo calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear, on drilled floating discs, according to Nissan at the 2007 launch; the 2017 press kit gives 15.35-inch discs at the front and 15.0-inch discs at the rear. [23, 24]

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 20 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

GT-R R35: 5x114.3, a 66.1 mm hub, wheel nuts
The Nissan GT-R R35, launched by Nissan in October 2007, sold in Europe from April 2009 and produced until August 2025, uses 5x114.3 on a 66.1 mm hub, with wheel nuts: SCC, wheelfitment.eu and koleso.ee give these measurements, each cited in the table, and Nissan's owner's manual names the nuts. The thread is not published in the table: M12 x 1.25 according to these databases, but M14 x 1.5 on the NISMO according to SCC and koleso.ee, which another koleso.ee record contradicts.
The tightening torque depends on the trim
Nissan gives 132 N·m, and 155 N·m on the Premium edition T-spec, NISMO, Special edition, Track edition and Track edition T-spec, according to the Japanese owner's manual; the locking wheel nuts are tightened to the same torque. The vehicle type record does not distinguish between these trims: the torque is not written in the table, and the FAQ answer gives both values.
20-inch wheels, staggered
The vehicle type record of the Swiss Federal Roads Office (ASTRA), the document that sets the tyre and wheel combinations a car may carry, permits only 20-inch wheels for the GT-R: 10.5J with an offset of 25 at the rear, with 285/35 R20 tyres, and at the front, with 255/40 R20 tyres, 9.5J with an offset of 45 or, from the November 2013 record onwards, 10J with an offset of 41. On the 441 kW GT-R, only the 10J front wheel is permitted. Nissan's Japanese manual reserves this 10J wheel for the Premium edition T-spec, NISMO, Special edition, Track edition and Track edition T-spec: two GT-Rs of the same year can therefore have two different front wheels.
Brembo brakes and load per wheel
Nissan quotes six-piston monobloc Brembo calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear, and 15.35-inch front discs in the 2017 press kit: the 20-inch wheel wraps closely around them. Since the July 2014 record, the permissible load is 1,165 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 582.5 kg per rear wheel, and 1,080 kg on the front axle.
What these measurements say about a forged wheel
The offset positions the wheel in the wheel arch: a wider wheel, or a lower offset, brings it closer to the wing. The Onyx Forged design office starts from the measurements on this page, your brakes and your tyres to calculate the width and offset of your wheels, then submits them to you. The offset calculator compares two fitments: it compares, it does not choose the measurement for you.
Roadworthiness test: what is examined
The French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique) examines the wheel without removing it (cracks, deformation, a wheel that protrudes beyond the bodywork) and verifies that the tyre size is one provided for by the manufacturer or accepted as equivalent. Keeping a tyre size from the original fitment, and at least its load index, avoids having to justify it; the details are on the roadworthiness test and registration page.
What we record before machining
- The exact version, stated on the registration document, and the current diameter of your wheels.
- The braking system, on which the smallest possible diameter depends (wheels and brakes (page in French)).
- The current fitment, axle by axle, and the 66.1 mm hub bore.
Configure your forged wheels for the Nissan GT-R (R35)
The Onyx Forged design office works out the measurements of your car from its exact version, stated on the registration document, and shows them to you before machining. Each set is cut from forged 6061-T6 aluminium, machined on a 5-axis CNC centre, as monoblock, two-piece or three-piece wheels; our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards. Prices by diameter and the lead time are given on this page, under “What Onyx can make”. Start your configuration or write to contact@onyxforgedwheels.com.
