Frequently asked questions: wheels for the BYD Sealion 7 first generation
What are the original offsets for the wheels of a BYD Sealion 7?
The Swiss vehicle type record gives all the Sealion 7's wheels an offset of 40. With rear-wheel drive, it runs on 19-inch wheels in a staggered fitment: 7.5J at the front and 8.5J at the rear. With all-wheel drive, it runs on 20-inch wheels, 8J on both axles. [4, 6, 7]
Which tyres, and which load index, does a BYD Sealion 7 take?
Rear-wheel drive: 235/50 R19 of load index 103 at the front, i.e. 875 kg per tyre, and 255/45 R19 of load index 104 at the rear, i.e. 900 kg. All-wheel drive: 245/45 R20 of load index 103 on both axles. BYD's owner's manual gives the same sizes. [3, 4, 6, 7, 8]
What is the load per wheel on an all-wheel-drive BYD Sealion 7?
Depending on the variant, the Swiss vehicle type record gives it up to 1,538 kg of permissible load on the rear axle, i.e. 769 kg per rear wheel. The 245/45 R20 tyre of load index 103 in the same record carries 875 kg. A replacement wheel is sized on this load, not on the kerb weight. [7, 8]
What PCD, centre bore and fixings does a BYD Sealion 7 use?
The PCD is 5x120 and the centre bore 64.1 mm: wheelfitment.eu and hubcentric-rings.com give these measurements. The wheels are held by nuts, including one locking nut per wheel, according to BYD's owner's manual. The thread and the tightening torque are not published: only one database gives the thread, and the databases contradict each other on the torque. [1, 2, 3]

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 20 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

Custom forged wheels for the BYD Sealion 7 first generation
- Forged 6061-T6 aluminium
- 5-axis CNC machining
- Designed to JWL/VIA standards
- Fitment worked out for your BYD Sealion 7 first generation
BYD Sealion 7: 5x120 on a 64.1 mm hub
The BYD Sealion 7 uses 5x120, on a 64.1 mm hub: two independent specialist databases give the PCD and the centre bore, each cited in the table. Its wheels are held by nuts, including one locking nut per wheel, as described in BYD's owner's manual. The thread, the seat and the tightening torque are not published here: only one database gives the thread, and the databases contradict each other on the torque.
Two fitments, the same offset of 40
The Swiss vehicle type record, published by the Federal Roads Office, gives the rear-wheel-drive Sealion 7 a staggered 19-inch fitment: 7.5J at the front with 235/50 R19 tyres of load index 103, 8.5J at the rear with 255/45 R19 tyres of load index 104. The all-wheel-drive Sealion 7 has 8J x 20 wheels on both axles, with 245/45 R20 tyres of load index 103. All these wheels have an offset of 40, and BYD's owner's manual gives the same tyre sizes.
An electric SUV: load first
Depending on the variant, the all-wheel-drive Sealion 7 has up to 1,538 kg of permissible load on the rear axle, i.e. 769 kg per rear wheel; the 245/45 R20 tyre of load index 103 carries 875 kg. A forged wheel is sized on this load, not on the kerb weight, and a replacement tyre must have at least the load index of the original fitment. The guide Heavy SUVs: what load must the wheel carry? (page in French) explains the calculation.
Noise and range: what the wheel changes
With no combustion engine to mask it, rolling noise is more noticeable, and a larger wheel with a wider tyre generally increases rolling resistance, and therefore consumption. Some replacement tyres carry the HL marking, which gives them more load capacity for the same size. The guide electric car tyres (page in French) explains wear, the HL marking, noise and range; the fitment is still determined by your car, whose measurements we record.
