Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N (NE)

What are the original offsets for the wheels of a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N?

The Ioniq 5 N's Swiss vehicle type records permit only one combination, the same on both axles: a 9.5J x 21 wheel with an offset of 45, with 275/35 R21 tyres. There is no staggered fitment, no second diameter and no winter fitment in these records. [6, 8, 9]

Which tyre, and which load index, does a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N take?

275/35 R21 on all four wheels, with load index 103, i.e. 875 kg per tyre, and speed rating Y: this is the only size its Swiss vehicle type records permit. A replacement tyre must keep at least this index. [6, 9, 10]

What is the load per wheel on a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N?

Its Swiss vehicle type records give it a permissible load of 1,315 kg on the front axle and 1,433 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 657.5 and 716.5 kg per wheel, for a kerb weight of 2,275 to 2,305 kg. The tyre with load index 103 carries 875 kg. [6, 8, 9, 10]

What PCD (bolt pattern), centre bore and nuts does a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N use?

The PCD is 5x114.3, the centre bore 67.1 mm, and the wheels are held by M14 x 1.5 nuts: SCC, wheelfitment.eu and koleso.ee give these measurements, and Hyundai's IONIQ 5 N owner's manuals name the wheel nuts. These manuals set their tightening torque between 176 and 196 N·m, i.e. 18 to 20 kgf·m. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Which brakes does a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N have?

According to Hyundai, four-piston monoblock front calipers, on ventilated discs of 400 mm at the front and 360 mm at the rear; Hyundai Motor Europe states that this braking system does without carbon-ceramic discs. A 21-inch wheel, the only one its Swiss vehicle type records permit, clears these discs; for a smaller wheel, the Onyx Forged design office calculates the clearance from these calipers. [6, 7, 11]

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 20 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

Custom forged wheels for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N (NE)

  • Forged 6061-T6 aluminium
  • 5-axis CNC machining
  • Designed to JWL/VIA standards
  • Fitment worked out for your Hyundai Ioniq 5 N (NE)

Ioniq 5 N: 5x114.3, a 67.1 mm hub, M14 x 1.5 nuts

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, a 478 kW twin-motor electric car, unveiled by Hyundai in July 2023 and open for orders in the United Kingdom from October 2023, uses 5x114.3 on a 67.1 mm hub, with M14 x 1.5 wheel nuts: SCC, wheelfitment.eu and koleso.ee give these measurements, each cited in the table, and Hyundai's owner's manuals name the nuts. These manuals give the tightening torque as a range, from 176 to 196 N·m: the table, which expects a single value, stays empty, and the FAQ answer cites the range.

A single fitment: 9.5J x 21, offset of 45

The vehicle type record of the Swiss Federal Roads Office (ASTRA), the document that sets the tyre and wheel combinations a car may carry, permits only one combination for the Ioniq 5 N, the same on all four wheels: a 9.5J x 21 wheel with an offset of 45, with 275/35 R21 tyres of load index 103. Hyundai Motor UK's technical data give the same wheel and the same tyre. There is no staggered fitment, no second diameter and no winter fitment in these records.

Brakes: 400 mm discs at the front

Hyundai quotes four-piston monoblock front calipers, on 400 mm discs at the front and 360 mm discs at the rear, and states that this braking system does without carbon-ceramic discs. The 21-inch wheel surrounds them; before designing a wheel of another diameter, the Onyx Forged design office starts from your calipers.

What a heavy, powerful electric car changes

Its records give the Ioniq 5 N a kerb weight of 2,275 to 2,305 kg and a permissible load of 1,433 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 716.5 kg per rear wheel, and 1,315 kg at the front: this is the load the wheel must carry, and a replacement tyre must keep at least the original fitment's load index, 103. The torque, available from the first turn of the wheel, and the weight wear tyres faster than on a combustion-engined car of the same power; the tyre also has a bearing on cabin noise and range. A tyre marked HL (High Load) carries more at the same size. The guide electric car tyres: wear, HL index, noise and range (page in French) explains what each choice changes, and the guide wheels for a heavy car: the load per wheel (page in French) how to read the load the wheel must carry.

What these measurements say about a forged wheel

The offset positions the wheel in the wheel arch: a wider wheel, or a lower offset, brings it closer to the wing. The Onyx Forged design office starts from the measurements on this page, your brakes and your tyres to calculate the width and offset of your wheels, then submits them to you. The offset calculator compares two fitments: it compares, it does not choose the measurement for you.

Roadworthiness test: what is examined

The French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique) examines the wheel without removing it (cracks, deformation, a wheel that protrudes beyond the bodywork) and verifies that the tyre size is one provided for by the manufacturer or accepted as equivalent. Keeping a tyre size from the original fitment, and at least its load index, avoids having to justify it; the details are on the roadworthiness test and registration document page.
