What wheel widths does the RS3 8Y use at the front and at the rear?
The RS 3 is wider at the front: 9J x 19 and 265/30 ZR19 at the front, 8J x 19 and 245/35 ZR19 at the rear. Audi's original winter wheels keep this staggered layout, in 9J ET 25 at the front and 8J ET 46 at the rear. [1, 2, 4, 5, 6]
Which bolts are used for the wheels of an RS3 8Y?
Wheel bolts, not nuts. Audi supplies its complete wheels without bolts and asks for the standard bolts to be reused. [2]
Does the RS3 8Y have pressure sensors in its wheels?
It depends on the equipment: for cars fitted with direct-measurement tyre pressure monitoring, Audi recommends adding its wheel sensor kit to the winter wheels. [2]

Five cylinders mounted transversely, and the weight at the front
The RS3 8Y has a 2.5-litre in-line five-cylinder engine mounted transversely at the front, with 400 PS and 500 Nm, for about 1,570 kg unladen. The whole layout pulls the mass forwards: the engine sits crosswise ahead of the steered axle, and drive goes to the front wheels first, with torque sent to the rear only when needed. An RS6 spreads two tonnes over a long wheelbase; an RS3 concentrates a much smaller mass on a heavily loaded front axle. The stresses on its wheels differ not in degree but in kind.
Wider at the front than at the rear
This is the feature that governs the whole project. The original fitment of the 8Y is staggered the opposite way to common practice: 265/30 ZR19 at the front on a 9J x 19 ET 25 wheel, and 245/35 ZR19 at the rear on 8J x 19 ET 46. The front is the wider axle, and twenty-one millimetres separate the offsets of the two axles. This is not a catalogue quirk: it is Audi's answer to a car that leans on its front axle. A set of four identical wheels changes the balance the manufacturer intended. It is a legitimate choice, but one to make knowingly, never by default.
The measurements of the 8Y
The PCD (bolt pattern) is 5x112, as on an RS6. The same PCD does not, however, make a compatible wheel: the centring diameter, the offsets and the load to be carried can differ from one Audi to another, and we establish them for your car before any design work. The original diameter is 19 inches on both axles, with tyres of load index 93, i.e. 650 kg per tyre, well below the 875 kg per tyre of an RS6 C8.
The 2024 facelift and the actively controlled rear axle
The 2024 facelift keeps the five-cylinder's 400 PS and 500 Nm, as well as the rear torque splitter: two actively controlled multi-plate clutches, one per driveshaft, able to send all the torque transmitted to the rear to a single wheel. This component loads the outer rear wheel far beyond what a conventional differential would ask of it: one more reason not to treat the four wheels as four interchangeable parts.
