Custom forged wheels for McLaren 570S

The 570S was the entry point to the McLaren range, without giving anything away on the essentials: under the body, a MonoCell II carbon-fibre monocoque. Today it is one of the most affordable McLarens on the used market, and the one whose original wheels have seen the most use. Onyx Forged designs a new set for it, forged from 6061-T6 aluminium, to the recorded measurements of your car and its staggered fitment. 5-axis CNC machining.

A Sports Series, not a cut-price McLaren

When McLaren launched the Sports Series in 2015, the bet was to offer a more accessible car without touching the brand's founding principle: the 570S rests on a carbon-fibre monocoque, the MonoCell II, where its direct rivals stick with an aluminium body. The 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 is derived from that of the Super Series. The family then grew — 540C, 570S Spider, the more road-oriented 570GT, the more radical 600LT — and these versions do not drive in the same way. Nor do they take the same wheels and tyres: it is your version that drives the project, not the range.

A chassis that makes the wheel more readable than elsewhere

The Sports Series does not get the hydraulically interconnected suspension of the Super Series: it relies on double wishbones, adaptive dampers and conventional anti-roll bars. It is an engineering choice, not a sacrifice, but it has a direct consequence: the behaviour depends more on what each wheel does on its own, with no transfer from one corner of the car to another. A lighter wheel therefore gains more here than elsewhere — in wheel control on a broken surface, in front-end clarity at small steering angles, in rotational inertia under braking. High-pressure forging of 6061-T6 makes exactly that possible: with stiffness maintained, the sections come down.

The used market changes the nature of the project

The 570S is the gateway to McLaren ownership, and its cars have been driven. Requests rarely start from a purely aesthetic wish. A wheel marked by a kerb, a lacquer that has turned cloudy, a finish that has become hard to match on a single wheel, or the impossibility of pairing a new wheel with three aged ones: these are the real reasons. Do the sums before ordering two original wheels — a complete set of four custom forged wheels often changes the reasoning, and leaves the car consistent rather than patched up.

What is recorded before the design is drawn

Nothing is deduced from a table. PCD (bolt pattern), hub bore, offset and widths per axle are established for your car, all the more so as the Sports Series has several versions and yours may have been fitted with options. The braking system dictates its caliper clearance, which is also established. Ground clearance is low: the protrusion is calculated for your version and submitted to you before machining. And as on every McLaren, the front and the rear share neither the same width nor the same diameter — two separate projects, to be balanced so that they read as a single set.

What custom work makes possible

Monoblock when lightness comes first, two-piece or three-piece when you are after a barrel depth that a monoblock cannot reach. Spokes, concave profile, finish, visible or hidden bolts: everything is decided with you, and nothing obliges you to take up the graphic vocabulary of 2015. Our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards and 5-axis CNC machined. Price and lead time each have their own page: custom forged wheel prices and lead time.
