Frequently asked questions: wheels for the McLaren 720S coupé and Spider

What are the original offsets for the wheels of a McLaren 720S?

A staggered fitment, wider at the rear and larger in diameter, according to its Swiss vehicle type records: 9J x 19 with an offset of 42 at the front and 11J x 20 with an offset of 25 at the rear. It applies to the coupé, the 720S LM and the Spider, and the records permit no other. [15, 16, 19]

Which tyres, and which load index, does a McLaren 720S take?

245/35 R19 with load index 93 at the front, i.e. 650 kg per tyre, and 305/30 R20 with load index 103 at the rear, i.e. 875 kg, with reinforced (XL) tyres on both axles, according to its Swiss vehicle type records. [15, 19, 22]

What is the load per wheel on a McLaren 720S?

Its Swiss vehicle type records give the coupé a permissible load of 776 kg on the front axle and 915 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 388 and 457.5 kg per wheel; the Spider, 807 and 934 kg, i.e. 403.5 and 467 kg per wheel. The rear carries the most, and its 305/30 R20 tyre with load index 103 carries 875 kg. [15, 19, 22]

What PCD, centre bore and bolts does a McLaren 720S use?

The PCD is 5x112, the centre bore 57.1 mm, and the wheels are held by M14 x 1.5 bolts, according to wheelfitment.eu, koleso.ee, tirewheelguide.com, ThreePiece.us and BONOSS. The tightening torque is 130 Nm according to wheelfitment.eu and koleso.ee. The seat of the original bolt is not published: no source we have read gives it. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]

Same fixing measurements

As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the McLaren 720S coupé and Spider: PCD 5x112, centre bore 57.1 mm, thread M14 x 1.5, fixing: wheel bolts.

Same fixing measurements; original diameters and offsets: see each car's page. The seat of the bolts or nuts, the width of the wheels and brake clearance are not compared here: this comparison is not an opinion on compatibility.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 22 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

McLaren 720S: original wheels, brakes and weight

The figures below come from McLaren's documents and from the sources listed below, read on 20 October 2026. They are the standard measurements of the versions named, not a recommendation: before any design, we work out the measurements of your car.

720S (coupé)

Tyres245/35 ZR19 at the front, 305/30 ZR20 at the rear [2][3]
Wheel width9J at the front, 11J at the rear [2][3]
Brakescarbon-ceramic, 6-piston aluminium calipers at the front, 4-piston at the rear [1]
Dry weight (lightest version)1,283 kg [1]

19 inches at the front, 20 inches at the rear: the two axles of the 720S do not run on the same diameter.

McLaren 720S: 5x112, M14 x 1.5 bolts, a 57.1 mm centre bore

The McLaren 720S, whose first Swiss vehicle type record dates from May 2017, as a coupé, the 720S LM and the Spider alike, uses 5x112, with a 57.1 mm centre bore and M14 x 1.5 wheel bolts: wheelfitment.eu, koleso.ee, tirewheelguide.com, ThreePiece.us and BONOSS give these measurements, each cited in the table. wheelfitment.eu and koleso.ee also give the tightening torque, 130 Nm. No source we have read gives the seat of the original bolt. The Artura, for its part, has a larger centre bore.

19 inches at the front, 20 at the rear: a single fitment

The vehicle type record of the Swiss Federal Roads Office (ASTRA), the document that sets the tyre and wheel combinations a car may carry, permits only one fitment for the 720S, a staggered one: 9J x 19 with an offset of 42 at the front, with 245/35 R19 tyres, and 11J x 20 with an offset of 25 at the rear, with 305/30 R20 tyres. It applies to the coupé, the 720S LM and the Spider, all with 530 kW and rear-wheel drive. The two axles have neither the same width nor the same diameter: the wheels cannot be swapped from one axle to the other. The specialist databases give similar offsets, 41.65 and 24.75 for koleso.ee and tirewheelguide.com, 41 and 24 for ThreePiece.us: the table follows the type record, the official document.

A mid-mounted engine: the rear carries the most

The records give the coupé a permissible load of 776 kg on the front axle and 915 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 388 and 457.5 kg per wheel, and the Spider 807 and 934 kg, i.e. 403.5 and 467 kg per wheel: the more heavily loaded axle takes the wider wheel. This is the load the wheel must carry, and the tyre must keep at least the load index of the original fitment, 93 for 245/35 R19 at the front and 103 for 305/30 R20 at the rear (reading a tyre (page in French)).

What these measurements say about a forged wheel

The offset positions the wheel in the wheel arch: a wider wheel, or a lower offset, brings it closer to the wing. The Onyx Forged design office starts from the measurements on this page, your brakes and your tyres to calculate the width and offset of your wheels, then submits them to you. The offset calculator compares two fitments: it compares, it does not choose the measurement for you.

Roadworthiness test: what is examined

The French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique) examines the wheel without removing it (cracks, deformation, a wheel that protrudes beyond the bodywork) and verifies that the tyre size is one provided for by the manufacturer or accepted as equivalent. Keeping a tyre size from the original fitment, and at least its load index, avoids having to justify it; the details are on the roadworthiness test and registration page.

What we record before machining

Configure your forged wheels for the McLaren 720S

The Onyx Forged design office works out the measurements of your car from its exact version, stated on the registration document, and shows them to you before machining. Each set is cut from forged 6061-T6 aluminium, machined on a 5-axis CNC centre, as monoblock, two-piece or three-piece wheels; our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards. Prices by diameter and the lead time are given on this page, under “What Onyx can make”. Start your configuration or write to contact@onyxforgedwheels.com.
