Frequently asked questions: wheels for the MG MG4 first generation
What are the original offsets for the wheels of an MG4?
The Swiss vehicle type record of the MG4 gives an offset of 51 for the 17-inch (7J) and 18-inch (8J) wheels, and of 41 for the 16-inch (6.5J) wheel of the 125 kW version. All versions, from 125 to 320 kW, have an 18-inch combination. [4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10]
Which tyres, and which load index, does an MG4 take?
205/60 R16 with load index 96, i.e. 710 kg per tyre; 215/50 R17 with load index 95, i.e. 690 kg; 235/45 R18 with load index 98, i.e. 750 kg. These are the combinations in the Swiss vehicle type record, the same on both axles. [4, 8, 12]
What is the load per wheel on an all-wheel-drive MG4?
The Swiss vehicle type record gives it a permissible load of 1,250 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 625 kg per rear wheel. The 235/45 R18 tyre with load index 98 in the same record carries 750 kg. [10, 12]
What PCD, centre bore and bolts does an MG4 use?
The PCD is 5x112, the centre bore 57.1 mm, and the wheels are held by M14 x 1.5 bolts: wheelfitment.eu, hubcentric-rings.com and koleso.ee give these measurements. The tightening torque is not published: the databases do not all give the same value, and no MG document we have read gives it. [1, 2, 3]
Same fixing measurements
As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the MG MG4 first generation: PCD 5x112, centre bore 57.1 mm, thread M14 x 1.5, fixing: wheel bolts.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 20 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

Custom forged wheels for the MG MG4 first generation
- Forged 6061-T6 aluminium
- 5-axis CNC machining
- Designed to JWL/VIA standards
- Fitment worked out for your MG MG4 first generation
MG4: 5x112 on a 57.1 mm hub
The MG4 uses 5x112, on a 57.1 mm hub, and its wheels are held by M14 x 1.5 bolts: several independent specialist databases give this, each cited in the table. The bolt seat and the tightening torque are not published here: no source gives the former, and the databases do not all give the same value for the latter.
The fitments in the vehicle type record, from 16 to 18 inches
The Swiss vehicle type record, published by the Federal Roads Office, gives one fitment per variant, the same on both axles. The 125 kW version can have a 6.5J x 16 wheel with an offset of 41 and 205/60 R16 tyres with load index 96. The 7J x 17 wheels, with 215/50 R17 tyres with load index 95, and the 8J x 18 wheels, with 235/45 R18 tyres with load index 98, both have an offset of 51. All versions, from 125 to 320 kW, have an 18-inch combination.
A compact electric car: load first
The all-wheel-drive MG4 has a permissible load of 1,250 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 625 kg per rear wheel; the 235/45 R18 tyre with load index 98 carries 750. A forged wheel is sized for this load, not for the kerb weight, and a replacement tyre must have at least the load index of the original fitment. The guide heavy SUVs: what load must the wheel withstand? (page in French) details the calculation, which also applies to a compact electric car.
Noise and range: what changes with the wheel
With no combustion engine to mask it, rolling noise is more noticeable, and a larger wheel with a wider tyre generally increases rolling resistance, and therefore consumption. Some replacement tyres carry the HL marking, which gives them more load capacity for the same size. The guide electric car tyres (page in French) explains wear, the HL marking, noise and range; the fitment is still determined by your car, whose measurements we record.
Configure your forged wheels for the MG4
The Onyx Forged design office works out the measurements of your car from its exact version, stated on the registration document, and shows them to you before machining. Each set is cut from forged 6061-T6 aluminium, machined on a 5-axis CNC centre, as monoblock, two-piece or three-piece wheels; our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards. Prices by diameter and the lead time are given on this page, under “What Onyx can make”. Start your configuration or write to contact@onyxforgedwheels.com.
