Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Honda Civic Type R (FL5)
What are the original offsets for the wheels of a Honda Civic Type R FL5?
An offset of 60 on the 9.5J x 19 wheel and of 55 on the 8J x 18 wheel, the same on both axles: these are the two combinations in the Swiss vehicle type records of the Type R (FL5), from 2022 to 2025. [7, 8, 9]
Which tyres, and which load index, does a Honda Civic Type R FL5 take?
265/30 R19 with a load index of 89, i.e. 580 kg per tyre, on the 19-inch wheel; 235/40 R18, with the same index, on the 18-inch wheel: these are the combinations in the Swiss vehicle type records. [7, 8, 10]
What is the load per wheel on a Honda Civic Type R FL5?
Its Swiss vehicle type records give it a permissible load of 1,010 kg on the front axle, i.e. 505 kg per front wheel, and of 800 kg on the rear axle. The tyre with a load index of 89 carries 580 kg. [7, 8, 10]
What PCD (bolt pattern), centre bore and nuts does a Honda Civic Type R FL5 use?
The PCD is 5x120, the centre bore 64.1 mm, and the wheels are held by M14 x 1.5 nuts: SCC, koleso.ee and the German general operating permits (Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis) for BBS and MAK wheels, which name the 242 kW Type R, give these measurements. The 2023 and 2024 Honda owner's manuals set the tightening torque of the nuts at 127 N·m. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Which tyre does Honda specify for the Civic Type R FL5?
The Honda owner's manual gives a 9.5J x 19 wheel and a 265/30ZR19 93Y tyre, i.e. 650 kg per tyre; the Swiss vehicle type records give load index 89 for the same size. On the FL5, Honda Motor Europe specifies Brembo brakes with two-piece floating discs, carried over from the previous generation. [5, 7, 10, 11]
Same fixing measurements
As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the Honda Civic Type R (FL5): PCD 5x120, centre bore 64.1 mm, thread M14 x 1.5, fixing: wheel nuts.

Same fixing measurements; original diameters and offsets: see each car's page. The seat of the bolts or nuts, the width of the wheels and brake clearance are not compared here: this comparison is not an opinion on compatibility.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 20 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

Civic Type R FL5: 5x120, a 64.1 mm hub, M14 x 1.5 nuts
The Honda Civic Type R FL5, unveiled by Honda in July 2022 and delivered in Europe from 2023, keeps the hub of the FK8: 5x120, 64.1 mm, and M14 x 1.5 wheel nuts, tightened to 127 N·m according to the 2023 and 2024 Honda owner's manuals. SCC, koleso.ee and two German operating permits for wheels (BBS and MAK) that name the 242 kW Type R give these measurements, each cited in the table. In June 2025, Honda announced the end of its sales in Europe, with a final series.
A wider wheel, the same offset
The vehicle type record of the Swiss Federal Roads Office (ASTRA), the document that sets the tyre and wheel combinations a car may carry, permits for the FL5 the same wheel on both axles: 9.5J x 19 with an offset of 60, on a 265/30 R19 tyre, or 8J x 18 with an offset of 55, on a 235/40 R18 tyre. The Honda manuals give the same 19-inch wheel, and a 265/30ZR19 93Y tyre; the record gives load index 89 for this size. Compared with the FK8, the 19-inch wheel gains an inch of width, at the same offset.
Brakes and load per wheel
Honda Motor Europe specifies Brembo brakes with two-piece floating discs, carried over from the FK8. The record gives a permissible load of 1,010 kg on the front axle, i.e. 505 kg per front wheel: this is the load the front wheel must withstand.
What these measurements say about a forged wheel
The offset positions the wheel in the wheel arch: a wider wheel, or a lower offset, brings it closer to the wing. The Onyx Forged design office starts from the measurements on this page, your brakes and your tyres to calculate the width and offset of your wheels, then submits them to you. The offset calculator compares two fitments: it compares, it does not choose the measurement for you.
Roadworthiness test: what is examined
The French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique) examines the wheel without removing it (cracks, deformation, a wheel that protrudes beyond the bodywork) and verifies that the tyre size is one provided for by the manufacturer or accepted as equivalent. Keeping a tyre size from the original fitment, and at least its load index, avoids having to justify it; the details are on the roadworthiness test and registration document page.
What we record before machining
- The exact version, stated on the registration document, and the current diameter of your wheels.
- The braking system, on which the smallest possible diameter depends (wheels and brakes (page in French)).
- The current fitment, axle by axle, and the hub's 64.1 mm centre bore.
Configure your forged wheels for the Honda Civic Type R (FL5)
The Onyx Forged design office works out the measurements of your car from its exact version, stated on the registration document, and shows them to you before machining. Each set is cut from forged 6061-T6 aluminium, machined on a 5-axis CNC centre, as monoblock, two-piece or three-piece wheels; our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards. Prices by diameter and the lead time are given on this page, under “What Onyx can make”. Start your configuration or write to contact@onyxforgedwheels.com.
