Original fitment measurements: Tesla Model S first series
The measurements of the car as delivered new, to identify yours and compare. Each value refers, by a number, to the sources that give it. They are not a recommendation: Onyx does not advise any specific offset.

Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Tesla Model S first series
What are the original offsets for the wheels of a 2012 to 2020 Tesla Model S?
Tesla's owner's manual gives an offset of 40 for the 19-inch (8J) and 21-inch (8.5J) wheels, at the front as well as at the rear. [6]
Which tyres do the wheels of a 2012 to 2020 Model S take?
245/45 R19 for the 19-inch wheels. In 21 inches: 245/35 R21 at the front and 265/35 R21 at the rear; the owner's manual states that, on an all-wheel-drive Performance, the width of the rear tyres may vary according to the date of manufacture, and that some cars have 245/35 R21 on both axles. [6, 8]
What width is the 21-inch rear wheel of a 2012 to 2020 Model S?
Tesla does not agree with itself: the owner's manual gives 8.5J on both axles, the workshop manual 9J at the rear for cars running 245 tyres at the front and 265 at the rear. We publish neither of the two widths. [6, 7]
What PCD, centre bore and nuts does a Tesla Model S use?
The PCD is 5x120, the centre bore 64.1 mm and the wheel nuts are M14 x 1.5: SCC, wheelfitment.eu and hubcentric-rings.com give the PCD and the centre bore. The tightening torque is 175 Nm, according to Tesla. [1, 2, 3, 6, 7]
Same fixing measurements
As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the Tesla Model S first series: PCD 5x120, centre bore 64.1 mm, thread M14 x 1.5, fixing: wheel nuts.

Same fixing measurements; original diameters and offsets: see each car's page. The seat of the bolts or nuts, the width of the wheels and brake clearance are not compared here: this comparison is not an opinion on compatibility.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 15 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

Custom forged wheels for the Tesla Model S first series
- Forged 6061-T6 aluminium
- 5-axis CNC machining

- Fitment worked out for your Tesla Model S first series
Model S from 2012 to 2020: 5x120 on a 64.1 mm hub
The 2012 to 2020 Tesla Model S uses 5x120, on a 64.1 mm hub, with M14 x 1.5 wheel nuts: several independent specialist sources give the PCD (bolt pattern) and the centre bore, each cited in the table. Tesla fixes the wheels with nuts tightened to 175 Nm. The seat of the nuts is given by only one source: it is not published here.
The fitments Tesla gives, in 19 and 21 inches
Tesla's owner's manual gives an offset of 40 on both axles: in 19 inches with 8J wheels and 245/45 R19 tyres, in 21 inches with an 8.5J front wheel and 245/35 R21 tyres at the front and 265/35 R21 at the rear. It states that, on an all-wheel-drive Performance, the width of the rear tyres may vary according to the date of manufacture, and that some cars have 245/35 R21 on both axles.
A rear width on which Tesla does not agree
For the 21-inch rear wheel, the owner's manual gives 8.5J and the workshop manual 9J, for cars running 245 tyres at the front and 265 at the rear. Neither of the two measurements is shown in the table: the Onyx Forged design office decides for your car.
And the Model S since 2021?
The Model S since 2021 has its own page, Model S since 2021: its wheels are staggered, wider at the rear, with different offsets.
What we record before machining
- The exact version, stated on the registration document, and the current diameter of your wheels.
- The braking system, on which the smallest possible diameter depends.
- The current fitment, axle by axle, and the hub's 64.1 mm centre bore.
Configure your forged wheels for the Tesla Model S (2012-2020)
