Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Audi S4 B9
What are the original offsets for the wheels of an Audi S4 B9?
An offset of 40, on both axles, on the 8J x 18 and 8.5J x 19 wheels its Swiss vehicle type records permit, as a Saloon and as an Avant, as the 3.0 TFSI and as the TDI; for winter, 7.5J x 18 with an offset of 39. [7, 8, 12, 15]
Which tyres, and which load index, does an Audi S4 B9 take?
245/40 R18 with load index 97, i.e. 730 kg per tyre; in 19 inches, 245/35 R19 with load index 93 on the 3.0 TFSI, i.e. 650 kg, and 255/35 R19 with load index 96 on the 2020 and 2021 TDI, i.e. 710 kg, on both axles. [7, 12, 16]
What is the load per wheel on an Audi S4 B9?
The November 2020 Swiss vehicle type record for the TDI Saloon gives it a permissible load of 1,255 kg on the front axle and 1,215 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 627.5 and 607.5 kg per wheel; that of the 2016 3.0 TFSI, 1,170 kg at the front. The 245/40 R18 tyre with load index 97 carries 730 kg. [6, 12, 16]
What PCD, centre bore and bolts does an Audi S4 B9 use?
The PCD is 5x112, the centre bore 66.5 mm, and the wheels are held by M14 x 1.5 bolts tightened to 120 Nm: wheelfitment.eu, koleso.ee and SCC give these measurements (SCC gives a torque range); hubcentric-rings.com, on its A4 page, gives the same PCD and the same torque but a different centre bore, which we do not use. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Same fixing measurements
As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the Audi S4 B9: PCD 5x112, centre bore 66.5 mm, thread M14 x 1.5, fixing: wheel bolts.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 21 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

S4 B9: 5x112, a 66.5 mm hub, M14 x 1.5 bolts
The B9-generation Audi S4, as a Saloon and as an Avant, as the 260 kW 3.0 TFSI according to the Swiss vehicle type records from 2016 to 2018, then as the 255 and 251 kW TDI according to those from 2019 to 2021, is 5x112 on a 66.5 mm hub, with M14 x 1.5 wheel bolts tightened to 120 Nm: wheelfitment.eu, koleso.ee and SCC give these measurements, each cited in the table. hubcentric-rings.com, on its A4 page, gives the same PCD (bolt pattern) and the same torque, but a centre bore a tenth of a millimetre larger, which we do not use. The Swiss records refer to this generation as type B8.
18 or 19 inches, an offset of 40
The vehicle type record of the Swiss Federal Roads Office (ASTRA), the document that sets the tyre and wheel combinations a car may carry, permits for the S4 the same wheel on both axles, with an offset of 40: 8J x 18 on 245/40 R18 tyres, or 8.5J x 19 on 245/35 R19 tyres on the 3.0 TFSI and 255/35 R19 on the TDI. For winter, it permits 7.5J x 18 with an offset of 39, on 225/45 R18 tyres.
Load per wheel
The November 2020 record for the TDI Saloon gives a permissible load of 1,255 kg on the front axle and 1,215 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 627.5 and 607.5 kg per wheel; that of the 2016 3.0 TFSI, 1,170 kg at the front. That is the load the wheel must carry, and the tyre must keep at least the load index of the original fitment, 97 in 245/40 R18 (reading a tyre (page in French)).
What these measurements say about a forged wheel
The offset positions the wheel in the wheel arch: a wider wheel, or a lower offset, brings it closer to the wing. The Onyx Forged design office starts from the measurements on this page, your brakes and your tyres to calculate the width and offset of your wheels, then submits them to you. The offset calculator compares two fitments: it compares, it does not choose the measurement for you.
Roadworthiness test: what is examined
The French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique) examines the wheel without removing it (cracks, deformation, a wheel that protrudes beyond the bodywork) and verifies that the tyre size is one provided for by the manufacturer or accepted as equivalent. Keeping a tyre size from the original fitment, and at least its load index, avoids having to justify it; the details are on the roadworthiness test and registration document page.
What we record before machining
- The exact version, stated on the registration document, and the current diameter of your wheels.
- The braking system, on which the smallest possible diameter depends (wheels and brakes (page in French)).
- The current fitment, axle by axle, and the hub's 66.5 mm centre bore.
Configure your forged wheels for the Audi S4 (B9)
The Onyx Forged design office works out the measurements of your car from its exact version, stated on the registration document, and shows them to you before machining. Each set is cut from forged 6061-T6 aluminium, machined on a 5-axis CNC centre, as monoblock, two-piece or three-piece wheels; our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards. Prices by diameter and the lead time are given on this page, under “What Onyx can make”. Start your configuration or write to contact@onyxforgedwheels.com.
