Frequently asked questions: wheels for the BMW M3 G80
Which wheels are standard on an M3 Competition (G80) sold in France?
In rear-wheel drive, 9.5J x 18 and 275/40 ZR18 at the front, 10.5J x 19 and 285/35 ZR19 at the rear, according to BMW France's price lists of February and October 2021. In M xDrive form, 9.5J x 19 and 275/35 ZR19 at the front, 10.5J x 20 and 285/30 ZR20 at the rear. [13, 14, 16, 17]
Does the rear-wheel-drive M3 Competition have the same standard wheels in every country?
No. BMW France delivered it in 2021 with 18 inches at the front and 19 inches at the rear; BMW UK announced it the same year with 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear as standard, the fitment of the BMW 826M wheel. Both fitments are original BMW equipment: it is the car's fitment that counts, not its name. [1, 2, 13, 14, 15]
What is the original offset of the M3 G80's 19/20-inch wheels?
20 mm at both the front and the rear: 19x9.5 ET 20 and 20x10.5 ET 20 (BMW 826M wheel). [1, 2, 11, 14]
What is the load per wheel on an M3 (G80)?
Rear-wheel drive: 1,080 kg on the front axle and 1,180 kg on the rear, i.e. at most 540 and 590 kg per wheel. Competition M xDrive: 1,125 kg and 1,200 kg, i.e. 563 and 600 kg per wheel. [10, 12, 16, 17]
Same fixing measurements
As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the BMW M3 G80: PCD 5x112, centre bore 66.5 mm, thread M14 x 1.25, fixing: wheel bolts.
- BMW M4 G82 (since 2021)
- Toyota GR Supra A90 (2019–2026)
Same fixing measurements; original diameters and offsets: see each car's page. The seat of the bolts or nuts, the width of the wheels and brake clearance are not compared here: this comparison is not an opinion on compatibility.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 10 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

- Fitment worked out for your BMW M3 G80
5x112: the G80 changed PCD (bolt pattern), and nothing from the F80 carries over
This is the first point to establish, because it governs everything else. The M3 G80 is drilled 5x112. The F80 before it is 5x120. To the eye, the two bolt circles look alike, and that is precisely what makes the mistake so common. A set from an M3 F80, M4 F82 or M2 F87 therefore does not fit a G80, and no spigot ring can make up eight millimetres of PCD. The question “what PCD for an M3?” has no answer at model level: it only has one at generation level.
An original fitment staggered in width as well as diameter
On the G80, the standard wheels are asymmetric: 9.5J at the front, 10.5J at the rear, and one inch more at the rear. The so-called base M3 takes an 18-inch front wheel with a 275/40 R18 tyre and a 19-inch rear wheel with a 285/35 R19. The Competition M xDrive moves up a size: 19 inches at the front with 275/35 R19, 20 inches at the rear with 285/30 R20, on the BMW 826M wheel, with a 20 mm offset on both axles. In rear-wheel-drive form, the Competition's fitment depends on the market: BMW France delivered it in 2021 on 18 and 19 inches, like the base M3, while BMW UK announced it the same year on 19 and 20 inches. Two cars that carry the same name, two different fitments: this is the first thing we record before drawing anything at all.
Rear-wheel drive, M xDrive, Touring: same fixing, three uses
The G80 comes in rear-wheel drive, as the four-wheel-drive Competition M xDrive, and as the G81 Touring estate. The fixing measurements are shared, but the work asked of the front wheel is not: on an M xDrive, it transmits drive as well as steering and braking, which loads the wheel centre on the exit of a tight corner where a rear-wheel-drive car asks nothing of the kind. On a loaded Touring, it is the rear axle that governs the sizing. We therefore do not apply the same compromise between stiffness and mass from one variant to another, even though the PCD is identical. The mid-life facelift changes none of these measurements.
Caliper clearance is calculated, not assumed
Depending on the options, a G80 has M Compound brakes or carbon-ceramic brakes, whose calipers do not take up the same volume behind the wheel. At this diameter, a few millimetres decide whether a wheel fits. We therefore establish the exact geometry for your individual car, never from a generic data sheet, and the clearance obtained shapes the design of the inner face of the spokes well before any aesthetic choice.
