The W206-generation Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC, a 300 kW all-wheel-drive saloon whose Swiss vehicle type record dates from May 2022, uses 5x112 on a 66.6 mm hub, with M14 x 1.5 wheel bolts: koleso.ee, wheelfitment.eu and ThreePiece.us give these measurements, SCC and hubcentric-rings.com the PCD (bolt pattern) and the centre bore, each cited in the table; ThreePiece.us writes the centre bore as 66.56 mm. Only one source we have read gives the tightening torque, and for the whole C-Class: we do not publish it.

Three fitments, from 18 to 20 inches, with offsets given to the tenth

The vehicle type record of the Swiss Federal Roads Office (ASTRA), the document that sets the tyre and wheel combinations a car may carry, permits three fitments for the C 43 saloon: 8J x 18 with an offset of 43.1 mm on all four wheels, on 245/45 R18 tyres; in 19 inches, 8J x 19 with an offset of 43.1 mm at the front, on 245/40 R19 tyres, and 9.5J x 19 with an offset of 61 at the rear, on 265/35 R19 tyres; in 20 inches, 8J x 20 with an offset of 43.1 mm at the front, on 245/35 R20 tyres, and 9.5J x 20 with an offset of 61.1 mm at the rear, on 265/30 R20 tyres. koleso.ee gives the same values. The record gives these offsets to the tenth of a millimetre, except the 61 of the 19-inch rear wheel. The fitment table shows them as they stand, to the tenth, without rounding, as do this text and the questions and answers. No record has been read for the estate (S206): these measurements apply to the saloon.

The load the wheel must carry

The record gives a permissible load of 1,140 to 1,150 kg on the front axle and 1,200 to 1,210 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 570 to 575 kg per front wheel and 600 to 605 kg per rear wheel. This is the load the wheel must carry, and the tyre must keep at least the load index of the original fitment: 100 for 245/45 R18, 98 in 19 inches, 95 at the front and 94 at the rear in 20 inches (reading a tyre (page in French)).

Roadworthiness test: what is examined

The French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique) examines the wheel without removing it (cracks, deformation, a wheel that protrudes beyond the bodywork) and verifies that the tyre size is one provided for by the manufacturer or accepted as equivalent. Keeping a tyre size from the original fitment, and at least its load index, avoids having to justify it; the details are on the roadworthiness test and registration page.
