Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG C118
What are the original offsets for the wheels of a Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 (C118)?
According to its Swiss vehicle type records, the CLA 45 and CLA 45 S take the same wheel on both axles: 8.5J x 18 with an offset of 46, or 9J x 19 with an offset of 52; for winter, also 8.5J x 19 with an offset of 46. The CLA 35 runs on an 8J x 18 wheel with an offset of 49; its 8.5J x 19 wheel has an offset of 55.2, to the tenth, which we do not copy into the table. [7, 11, 13, 14, 17]
Which tyres, and which load index, does a Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 (C118) take?
245/40 R18 with load index 97, i.e. 730 kg per tyre, or 255/35 R19 with load index 96, i.e. 710 kg, on both axles, reinforced (XL); on the CLA 35, 235/40 R18 with load index 95. [7, 11, 14, 19]
What is the load per wheel on a Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 (C118)?
The Swiss vehicle type record of May 2020 gives the CLA 45 Coupé a permissible load of 1,155 kg on the front axle and 1,000 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 577.5 and 500 kg per wheel; the CLA 45 S Shooting Brake carries 1,030 kg at the rear. The 255/35 R19 tyre with load index 96 carries 710 kg. [11, 12, 19]
What PCD, centre bore and bolts does a Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 (C118) use?
The PCD is 5x112, the centre bore 66.6 mm, and the wheels are held by M14 x 1.5 bolts tightened to 130 Nm: wheelfitment.eu, koleso.ee and SCC give the PCD, the centre bore and the bolts, hubcentric-rings.com the PCD and the centre bore; the 130 Nm torque comes from wheelfitment.eu and hubcentric-rings.com, SCC gives a lower one. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Same fixing measurements
As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG C118: PCD 5x112, centre bore 66.6 mm, thread M14 x 1.5, fixing: wheel bolts.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 21 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

CLA 45 C118: 5x112, a 66.6 mm hub, M14 x 1.5 bolts
The second-generation Mercedes-AMG CLA, C118 as a Coupé and X118 as a Shooting Brake, whose first Swiss vehicle type records date from May 2019 for the CLA 35 and from August 2019 for the CLA 45 and CLA 45 S, uses 5x112 on a 66.6 mm hub, with M14 x 1.5 wheel bolts tightened to 130 Nm. wheelfitment.eu, koleso.ee, SCC and hubcentric-rings.com give the PCD (bolt pattern) and the centre bore, each cited in the table; the torque comes from wheelfitment.eu and hubcentric-rings.com, SCC gives a lower one, and we have not read a Mercedes document that settles it.
18 or 19 inches, the same wheel on both axles
The vehicle type record of the Swiss Federal Roads Office (ASTRA), the document that sets the tyre and wheel combinations a car may carry, permits on the CLA 45 and CLA 45 S, from 285 to 310 kW, as a Coupé as well as a Shooting Brake, the same wheel at the front and at the rear, on AMG alloy wheels only: 8.5J x 18 with an offset of 46, on 245/40 R18 tyres, or 9J x 19 with an offset of 52, on 255/35 R19 tyres. For winter, it also permits 8.5J x 19 with an offset of 46, on 245/35 R19 tyres. The 225 kW CLA 35 runs on an 8J x 18 wheel with an offset of 49, on 235/40 R18 tyres; its 19-inch wheel has an offset of 55.2, which the record gives to the tenth: we do not round it, so it has no row in the table.
An all-wheel-drive car: the load per wheel
The May 2020 record gives the CLA 45 Coupé a permissible load of 1,155 kg on the front axle and 1,000 kg on the rear axle, i.e. 577.5 and 500 kg per wheel; the CLA 45 S Shooting Brake carries 1,030 kg at the rear. This is the load the wheel must carry, and the tyre must keep at least the load index of the original fitment, 97 in 18 inches and 96 in 19 inches (reading a tyre (page in French)).
What these measurements say about a forged wheel
The offset positions the wheel in the wheel arch: a wider wheel, or a lower offset, brings it closer to the wing. The Onyx Forged design office starts from the measurements on this page, your brakes and your tyres to calculate the width and offset of your wheels, then submits them to you. The offset calculator compares two fitments: it compares, it does not choose the measurement for you.
Roadworthiness test: what is examined
The French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique) examines the wheel without removing it (cracks, deformation, a wheel that protrudes beyond the bodywork) and verifies that the tyre size is one provided for by the manufacturer or accepted as equivalent. Keeping a tyre size from the original fitment, and at least its load index, avoids having to justify it; the details are on the roadworthiness test and registration page.
What we record before machining
- The exact version, stated on the registration document, and the current diameter of your wheels.
- The braking system, on which the smallest possible diameter depends (wheels and brakes (page in French)).
- The current fitment, axle by axle, and the 66.6 mm hub bore.
Configure your forged wheels for the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 (C118)
The Onyx Forged design office works out the measurements of your car from its exact version, stated on the registration document, and shows them to you before machining. Each set is cut from forged 6061-T6 aluminium, machined on a 5-axis CNC centre, as monoblock, two-piece or three-piece wheels; our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards. Prices by diameter and the lead time are given on this page, under “What Onyx can make”. Start your configuration or write to contact@onyxforgedwheels.com.
