The 2 generations of the Porsche 944 compared

One row per published generation, from the oldest to the most recent. Each measurement comes from the generation's page, which cites its sources and gives the fitment of each version. These measurements help you recognise your car; they are not a recommendation, and Onyx does not advise any specific offset.

Onyx entry price: the set of four monoblock forged wheels in the smallest diameter of our price list that covers the smallest original diameter recorded; the other diameters and the two-piece construction are on each generation's page. Amounts in pounds: our checkout on 4 October 2026, before the carrier's clearance fee and any import duty. The amount shown at checkout is the one charged for your order.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 22 October 2026.

Porsche 944: 5x130 from 1982 to 1991

The Porsche 944 uses 5x130 on a 71.6 mm hub, with M14 x 1.5 wheel nuts, across the whole series: SCC, wheelfitment.eu and ThreePiece.us give these figures, each cited on the series page. Porsche sets the wheel tightening torque at 130 Nm.

Two series, two Porsche bulletins

Porsche publishes the tyres, wheels and spacers it permits in two bulletins: one for model years 1982 to 1986, the other for model years 1987 to 1991 (944, 944 S, 944 S2 and 944 Turbo). The 944 from 1987 to 1991 has its own page, with its 15 to 17-inch fitments, axle by axle.

The 944 from 1982 to 1986 has its own page too, with its 15 and 16-inch fitments: there, Porsche gives offsets to a tenth of a millimetre, an offset (RO) of 23.3 for the 7J x 15 and 7J x 16 wheels, and 10.6 or 23.3 for the 8J rear wheels. We never round a Porsche measurement: the fitment table on its page reproduces them as they are, to the tenth.

Frequently asked questions about Porsche 944 wheels

Does my 1984 944 use 5x130?

Yes: the sources read give 5x130 and the 71.6 mm centre bore for the whole series, from 1982 to 1991. The Onyx Forged design office checks the hub of your version before machining, as for every order.

Can a 944 take 17-inch wheels?

Porsche permits 17-inch fitments on some 944s from 1987 to 1991, with conditions: bushes and eccentric bolts to be replaced, wheel-arch lips to be rolled, a rear anti-roll bar, and a 17 mm spacer at the rear on the 184 kW Turbo and the S2 with R01 chassis. The series page sets them out in detail; on another car, the design office works out what can be fitted.
