The offsets are the original ones, given by the manufacturer or by the sources cited; they help you identify your car's fitment.
Offset to one decimal place (“ET 23.3”): the offset as the manufacturer gives it, to one decimal place, shown as it is, without rounding.

Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Porsche 944 first series
What offsets does Porsche give for the wheels of a 944 from 1982 to 1986?
Porsche's bulletin 72/20, which covers the 944 and 944 Turbo of model years 1982 to 1986, gives an offset (RO) of 23.3 mm for the 7J x 15 and 7J x 16 wheels, 10.6 mm for the 8J x 15 rear wheel, and 10.6 mm or 23.3 mm for the 8J x 16 rear wheel; on the 944 Turbo, 23.3 mm at both the front and the rear. Porsche gives them to a tenth of a millimetre: the fitment table reproduces them as they are, without rounding them. [4]
Which tyres does Porsche permit on a 944 from 1982 to 1986?
In 15 inches, 185/70 R15, 195/65 R15 or 215/60 R15 on all four wheels; in 16 inches, 205/55 R16 at the front and 225/50 R16 at the rear, with a rear anti-roll bar, and the same fitment on the 944 Turbo. Cold pressures are 2.0 bar at the front and 2.5 bar at the rear, and 2.5 bar on both axles on the Turbo, with only the tyre makes and types Porsche permits. [4]
What PCD, centre bore and nuts does a 944 from 1982 to 1986 use?
5x130, with a 71.6 mm centre bore and M14 x 1.5 wheel nuts: SCC and ThreePiece.us give these figures, and so does wheelfitment.eu for the PCD, the centre bore and the thread, but with bolts. The wheel tightening torque is 130 Nm, according to Porsche's bulletin 72/20; SCC and wheelfitment.eu give the same value. [1, 2, 3, 4]
And the first-series 944 Turbo?
For this car, Porsche's bulletin 72/20 permits 7J x 16 wheels at the front and 8J x 16 at the rear, both with an offset (RO) of 23.3 mm, fitted with 205/55 R16 and 225/50 R16 tyres, and, for winter, 7J x 15 wheels with the same offset. Its tyres are inflated to 2.5 bar on both axles. [4]
Same fixing measurements
As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the Porsche 944 first series: PCD 5x130, centre bore 71.6 mm, thread M14 x 1.5, fixing: wheel nuts.
- Porsche 911 964 (1989–1994)
- Porsche 911 993 (1994–1998)
- Porsche 911 G-model (1974–1989)
- Porsche 968 coupé and convertible (1991–1995)
Same fixing measurements; original diameters and offsets: see each car's page. The seat of the bolts or nuts, the width of the wheels and brake clearance are not compared here: this comparison is not an opinion on compatibility.
Sources for the measurements and answers

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 22 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

Custom forged wheels for the Porsche 944 first series
- Forged 6061-T6 aluminium
- 5-axis CNC machining
- Designed to JWL/VIA standards
- Fitment worked out for your Porsche 944 first series
944 from 1982 to 1986: 5x130, a 71.6 mm hub, M14 x 1.5 nuts
The first-series Porsche 944, that of model years 1982 to 1986, and the 944 Turbo of the same period use 5x130 on a 71.6 mm hub, with M14 x 1.5 wheel nuts: SCC and ThreePiece.us give these measurements, wheelfitment.eu the PCD (bolt pattern), the centre bore and the thread, each cited in the table; wheelfitment.eu speaks of bolts, the other two of nuts, and the majority prevails. Porsche sets the wheel tightening torque at 130 Nm in its bulletin 72/20, and SCC and wheelfitment.eu give the same value.
15 and 16-inch fitments, with offsets given to the tenth
Porsche's bulletin 72/20, on tyres, wheels and spacers, sets out the tyres and wheels Porsche permits on these cars. In 15 inches, 7J x 15 wheels with an offset (RO) of 23.3 mm on all four wheels, with 185/70 R15, 195/65 R15 or 215/60 R15 tyres, or an 8J x 15 rear wheel with an offset of 10.6 mm, with 215/60 R15 tyres on all four wheels. In 16 inches, a staggered fitment: 7J x 16 with an offset of 23.3 mm at the front, with 205/55 R16 tyres, and 8J x 16 at the rear, with 225/50 R16 tyres, with an offset of 10.6 mm or 23.3 mm depending on the wheel, with a rear anti-roll bar; the 944 Turbo has only the latter, with an offset of 23.3 mm on both axles. Porsche gives these offsets to a tenth of a millimetre. The fitment table reproduces them as they are, to the tenth, without rounding them, as do this text and the questions and answers. The bulletin does not say which of these fitments was on a given car.
Tyres and pressures of the first series
Porsche gives cold pressures of 2.0 bar at the front and 2.5 bar at the rear on the 944, and 2.5 bar on both axles on the Turbo, with only the tyre makes and types it permits. The replacement tyre keeps a size from the permitted fitment (reading a tyre (page in French)). The 944 from 1987 to 1991, the second series, has its own bulletin and its own page.
What these measurements say about a forged wheel
The offset positions the wheel in the wheel arch: a wider wheel, or a lower offset, brings it closer to the wing. The Onyx Forged design office starts from the measurements on this page, your brakes and your tyres to calculate the width and offset of your wheels, then submits them to you. The offset calculator compares two fitments: it compares, it does not choose the measurement for you.
Roadworthiness test: what is examined
The French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique) examines the wheel without removing it (cracks, deformation, a wheel that protrudes beyond the bodywork) and verifies that the tyre size is one provided for by the manufacturer or accepted as equivalent. Keeping a tyre size from the original fitment, and at least its load index, avoids having to justify it; the details are on the roadworthiness test and registration document page.
What we record before machining
- The exact version, stated on the registration document, and the current diameter of your wheels.
- The braking system, on which the smallest possible diameter depends (wheels and brakes (page in French)).
- The current fitment, axle by axle, and the hub's 71.6 mm centre bore according to the databases.
Configure your forged wheels for the Porsche 944 from 1982 to 1986
The Onyx Forged design office works out the measurements of your car from its exact version, stated on the registration document, and shows them to you before machining. Each set is cut from forged 6061-T6 aluminium, machined on a 5-axis CNC centre, as monoblock, two-piece or three-piece wheels; our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards. Prices by diameter and the lead time are given on this page, under “What Onyx can make”. Start your configuration or write to contact@onyxforgedwheels.com.
