Which wheel for a Porsche: the generation, then the phase

A Porsche wheel is chosen by generation, which Porsche designates by a code: 992 for the 911 since 2019, 991 from 2011 to 2019, 997 from 2004 to 2012, 982 for the 718 Cayman from 2016 to 2025. Within a generation, the phase matters as much as the year: Porsche's bulletins distinguish the 991.1 and 991.2, and the 992.1 and 992.2, with fitments and offsets that change. The original measurements we have recorded for Porsche cars are published generation by generation, on the page for the 911 (992), the 911 (991) and the 718 Cayman (982): each measurement there cites its source. Older Porsches have theirs too, from Porsche's bulletins on permitted tyres and wheels: the 911 G-model, the 964, the 993, the 996, the 944 from 1982 to 1986 and from 1987 to 1991, and the 968.

PCD, centre bore and bolts: one family among the Porsches recorded

The 911 (992), the 911 (991) and the 718 Cayman (982) share the same hub measurements: a 5x130 PCD (bolt pattern), a 71.6 mm centre bore and M14 x 1.5 wheel bolts (some versions of the 911 have a centre-lock nut). The 95B-generation Macan is the exception, with a 5x112 PCD and a 66.5 mm centre bore; the Macan Electric (XAB) returns to 5x130, with M14 x 1.5 bolts. The 5x130 PCD page sets them side by side. For the 911 (997), we show no measurements: we do not carry over those of a neighbouring generation, even when they seem obvious.

Shared hub measurements are not enough: the phase, the brakes and the original fitment decide what fits. An Onyx wheel is machined to the PCD and centre bore of the car it is made for: it centres on the hub with no ring or spacer.

Which wheel size for a Porsche

As original equipment, the 911 (992) runs on 19, 20 or 21-inch wheels, the 911 (991) on 19 or 20-inch wheels and the 718 Cayman (982) on 18, 19 or 20-inch wheels. The brakes sometimes set a minimum: on the 911 (991.2) fitted with PCCB ceramic brakes, Porsche excludes every 19-inch fitment, and the minimum is then 20 inches. On the 718 Cayman, the 18-inch summer fitment is permitted only on the base version. And the offsets change from one phase to the next: the page for each generation gives the original offsets, axle by axle.

To compare two fitments before ordering, first read the size of your tyre (reading a tyre (page in French)), then use the tyre size equivalence and the wheel offset calculator: they compare two fitments, they do not recommend any offset. The Onyx Forged design office then works out the width and offset of your wheels for your car and your brakes, and submits them to you before machining.

Why a forged wheel on a Porsche

An Onyx forged wheel is 5-axis CNC machined from a block of forged 6061-T6 aluminium, instead of being cast in a mould, and designed to JWL/VIA standards. The forged, cast or flow formed page explains what this changes for weight and strength. Price and lead time each have their own page: custom forged wheel prices and lead time.

Frequently asked questions about Porsche wheels

Which wheel size for my Porsche?

The one for your generation, your phase and your version. The size is shown on the sidewall of your tyres; the original fitments, version by version, are on the page for the 911 (992), the 911 (991) and the 718 Cayman (982).

What is the PCD of a Porsche?

It depends on the model and the generation. On the 911 (992), the 911 (991) and the 718 Cayman (982), it is 5x130, with a 71.6 mm centre bore; on the Macan (95B), 5x112, with a 66.5 mm centre bore; on the Macan Electric (XAB), 5x130. The sources for each value are cited on the car's page; the 5x130 PCD page lists the cars that share it.

What is the wheel tightening torque on a Porsche?

160 Nm for the wheel bolts of the 911 (992), the 911 (991) and the 718 Cayman (982), and 600 Nm for the centre-lock nut on the 911's centre-lock versions, according to the Porsche bulletins cited on the pages. On older Porsches (911 G-model, 964, 993, 996, 944 from 1982 to 1991 and 968), it is 130 Nm, according to Porsche's bulletins or, for the 993, two specialist sources that agree. The wheel nuts and tightening torque (page in French) guide explains the types of fixing.

Do PCCB ceramic brakes limit the wheel diameter?

It depends on the generation. On the 911 (991.2), Porsche excludes every 19-inch fitment with PCCB: the minimum is 20 inches. On the 992.1, the bulletins exclude 19 and 20-inch winter wheels with PCCB and publish no exclusion for the summer fitment. The details are on the generation's page.

Do forged wheels for a Porsche have an approval of their own, and do they pass the roadworthiness test?

No: made individually, Onyx wheels have no individual approval of their own, and we say so before you order. They are designed to JWL/VIA standards. The French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique) examines the wheel without removing it (cracks, deformation, a wheel that sticks out beyond the bodywork) and checks that the tyre size is provided for by the manufacturer or accepted as equivalent; it neither validates nor rejects a modification, which is a matter for vehicle approval (réception) and the registration document. The details, country by country, are on the roadworthiness test and registration page.

How much do forged wheels for a Porsche cost?

The price of a custom forged wheel depends on its diameter and its construction: the price grid for monoblock and 2-piece wheels is published diameter by diameter, 3-piece wheels are priced on quotation, and the finish does not change the price. The details are on the custom forged wheel prices page, and the lead time on the lead time page.

Monoblock, 2-piece or 3-piece: what is the difference?

A monoblock wheel is machined from a single forged block; a 2-piece wheel assembles a forged centre and a barrel; a 3-piece wheel holds the centre between an outer barrel and an inner barrel. Each construction has its own page, monoblock, 2-piece and 3-piece, and the guide monoblock, 2-piece or 3-piece (page in French) compares them.

What if my Porsche is not on the list?

An Onyx wheel is designed around the measurements of the car it goes on. Enter your model and its model year in the configurator: we record your car's measurements and submit them to you before machining.

One row per generation. Each value is taken from the car's page, which cites the source of each measurement, its fitments version by version and their original offsets (manufacturer). When a PCD has its own page, it leads there: that page lists every car that shares it.

“—”: measurement not published for lack of a sufficient source. The diameters and offsets are those of the original fitments, all versions together: the car's page gives the fitment of each version. These measurements help you recognise your car; they are not a recommendation, and Onyx does not advise any specific offset.

Onyx entry price: the set of four monoblock forged wheels in the smallest diameter of our price list that covers the smallest original diameter recorded; the other diameters and the two-piece construction are on each generation's page. Amounts in pounds: our checkout on 4 October 2026, before the carrier's clearance fee and any import duty. The amount shown at checkout is the one charged for your order.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 22 October 2026.
