Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Porsche 911 991
What is the wheel tightening torque on a Porsche 911 (991)?
160 Nm for the wheel bolts; 600 Nm for the centre-lock nut on centre-lock versions. [9, 10, 11]
Do the wheels of a 991.1 and a 991.2 have the same offsets?
No. On a 991.1 Carrera, Porsche gives 8.5J x 19 ET 54 and 11J x 19 ET 69. On a 991.2 Carrera, 8.5J x 19 ET 50 and 11.5J x 19 ET 76. On the wide body (Carrera 4, Targa 4), 11J x 19 ET 48 on the 991.1, 11.5J x 19 ET 56 on the 991.2. It is the phase that counts, not the model year: in Europe, the 991.2 went on sale in December 2015. [9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17]
Do PCCB ceramic brakes impose a minimum diameter on the 991.2?
Yes, on the versions that accept 19 inches: Porsche excludes every 19-inch fitment, summer and winter alike, on 991.2 cars fitted with PCCB (Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera T, Carrera 4, Targa 4, Carrera 4S, Targa 4S). The minimum is then 20 inches. The GTS and Turbo versions only take 20 inches in any case. [9, 11]
Does Porsche permit wheel spacers on the 991.1?
Yes: 5 mm spacers (part no. 991.044.500.00), at the front and at the rear, with the original fitments. On the 911 Carrera and Carrera S: 8.5J x 20 ET 51 / 11J x 20 ET 70, and 8.5J x 19 ET 54 / 11J x 19 ET 69 on the Carrera only. On the wide body (Carrera 4, Targa 4, Carrera 4S, Targa 4S, GTS): the 20-inch fitment (ET 51 at the front, 11J x 20 ET 52 at the rear), and 8.5J x 19 ET 54 / 11J x 19 ET 48 on the versions that accept 19 inches. For the wide bodies, Porsche specifies that this applies only to cars with five wheel bolts. [10, 12, 13, 14]
Same fixing measurements
As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the Porsche 911 991: PCD 5x130, centre bore 71.6 mm, thread M14 x 1.5, fixing: wheel bolts; centre-lock nut on centre-lock versions.
- Porsche Taycan Y1A (since 2020)
Same fixing measurements; original diameters and offsets: see each car's page. The seat of the bolts or nuts, the width of the wheels and brake clearance are not compared here: this comparison is not an opinion on compatibility.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 10 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

Porsche 991 wheels: the PCD will not tell you anything
The 911 (type 991), produced from 2011 to 2019, uses the 5x130 PCD, exactly like the 997 before it and the 992 after it. Searching for “991 wheels” in the hope that the PCD will settle the matter is therefore a dead end: on this generation, it is the body width and the rear offset that decide whether a wheel fits or not.
Narrow body or wide body: the point that decides everything
Two body widths coexist on the 991 (the 992 would put an end to this), and the gap between them is considerable. On the 991.1, in 19 inches, the Carrera takes 8.5J x 19 ET 54 at the front and 11J x 19 ET 69 at the rear, with 235/40 R19 and 285/35 R19 tyres. The wide-body Carrera 4 and Targa 4 keep the same front wheel but move to 11J x 19 ET 48 at the rear, with 295/35 R19. In 20 inches, the same split appears: 8.5J x 20 ET 51 and 11J x 20 ET 70 on the narrow body (Carrera, Carrera S); on the wide body, the front keeps ET 51 and the rear moves to 11J x 20 ET 52. That is a difference of 18 to 21 mm on the rear offset alone, for an identical wheel. A wide-body wheel fitted to a narrow body does not stick out “a little”: it protrudes by almost two centimetres.
Phase 2 (991.2, from 2015)
The facelift brings in turbocharged engines, and it also changes the wheels. Porsche's bulletins on permitted wheels and tyres give other widths and other offsets for the 991.2: 8.5J ET 49 to ET 50 at the front; at the rear, 11.5J ET 76 on the narrow body and 11.5J ET 56 on the wide body, in 19 as in 20 inches. The narrow body / wide body split remains the deciding variable, and the diameters remain 19 and 20 inches. But a wheel designed for a 991.1 cannot be carried over as it is to a 991.2: it is the car's phase that sets the measurements, and the registration document gives it to us before any design work.
Five bolts or centre lock
Not every 991 is fixed in the same way. The Carrera and Carrera S stay on five bolts, while the Carrera GTS can take, as an option, the 20-inch centre-lock wheels of the GT3 and the Turbo, with the five-bolt fixing remaining available on this version. The two systems share neither hub nor bolts, and no adaptation is possible in either direction. Before any design work, the registration document gives us the exact version, and with it the body width: these are the first two points we check, and they are enough to rule out half of all ordering errors.
Configure your custom 991 forged wheels
The 991 is the most common modern 911 on the used market, and it is also the one on which original sets most often end up mismatched. Each Onyx Forged set is machined from forged 6061-T6 aluminium on a 5-axis CNC centre, as monoblock, two-piece or three-piece wheels. Our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards. Price and lead time each have their own page: custom forged wheel prices and lead time. Write to us at contact@onyxforgedwheels.com or start your configuration.
