Porsche 911 (997): original wheels, brakes and weight

The figures below come from Porsche's documents and from the sources listed below, read on 20 October 2026. They are the standard measurements of the versions named, not a recommendation: before any design, we work out the measurements of your car.

911 Carrera 4, 4S, Targa 4 and 4S (997), summer wheels permitted by Porsche

18 inches (Carrera 4)8J x 18 ET 57 with 235/40 ZR 18 tyres at the front; 11J x 18 ET 51 with 295/35 ZR 18 tyres at the rear [1][2]
19 inches8J x 19 ET 57 with 235/35 ZR 19 tyres at the front; 11J x 19 ET 51 with 305/30 ZR 19 tyres at the rear [1][2]
19 inches, Carrera Sport wheel8.5J x 19 ET 55 at the front; 11.5J x 19 ET 50 at the rear, same tyres [1][2]
Wheel bolt tightening torque130 Nm (silver bolts); 160 Nm (black bolts) [1]

The bulletins we read cover the Carrera 4 and 4S; they do not cover the rear-wheel-drive Carrera and Carrera S, so we do not publish their rear measurements. The same document lists an 11J x 19 ET 67 rear wheel that fits a Carrera 4 only with a 17 mm spacer: an offset does not carry over from one version to another without calculation.

Porsche 997 wheels: what carries over, what does not

The 911 (type 997), produced from 2004 to 2012, is fixed with wheel bolts like the 911s either side of it, and this resemblance explains why so many owners think they can carry a set over from one generation to another. It is a mistake: the 997's offsets are its own, and a 991 or 992 set will not sit correctly in its wheel arches.

The fitments listed by Porsche, in 18 and 19 inches

According to Porsche's bulletins for the Carrera 4 and 4S, the front is 8J ET 57, in 18 as in 19 inches, and the rear 11J ET 51, on 295/35 ZR 18 or 305/30 ZR 19 tyres (table below). The 19-inch Carrera Sport wheels move to 8.5J ET 55 and 11.5J ET 50. These bulletins do not cover the rear-wheel-drive Carrera and Carrera S: so we do not publish their rear measurements, and we establish them for your car. The same document lists an 11J x 19 ET 67 rear wheel that fits a Carrera 4 only with a 17 mm spacer: sixteen millimetres of offset cannot be made up without calculation.

Phase 2 (997.2, from late 2008)

The facelift brings direct injection and the PDK gearbox, but above all, on the wheel side, it introduces a break that matters: the phase 2 GT3, GT3 RS and GT2 RS drop the five bolts for the centre lock, whereas their phase 1 equivalents still kept to the conventional fixing. Under the same model name, the production year therefore changes the fixing type: this is the point we check every time before any design work. On the Carrera models, the fixing remains wheel bolts; for the Carrera 4 and 4S from 2006 to 2008, Porsche's bulletin gives their tightening torque: 130 Nm for the silver bolts, 160 Nm for the black bolts.

Restoring without betraying the original measurements

The 997 has become a collector's car that people restore. Many original sets are buckled, corroded or simply impossible to find in the desired finish, and a mismatched set brings down the value of a carefully maintained car. A custom forged set makes it possible to get back to the exact measurements, offset and width included. We also take caliper clearance into account, including on vehicles fitted with carbon-ceramic brakes.

Configure your custom 997 forged wheels

Each set is machined from forged 6061-T6 aluminium on a 5-axis CNC centre, as monoblock, two-piece or three-piece wheels. Our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards.
