Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Porsche 911 992
What is the wheel tightening torque on a Porsche 911 (992)?
160 Nm for the wheel bolts, 600 Nm for the nut on centre-lock wheels, according to Porsche's bulletins. [6, 8, 9]
Do the offsets change between the 992.1 and the 992.2?
Yes, at the rear. On a 992.2, Porsche permits 11.5J x 20 ET 81 and 11.5J x 21 ET 79 at the rear; on a 992.1, it was 11.5J x 20 ET 67 and 11.5J x 21 ET 67. At the front, the 19-inch fitment stays at 8.5J ET 52. In 20 inches, the 992.1 is at ET 53, with ET 50 permitted depending on the wheel, base Carrera included; the 992.2 is at ET 50. It is the car's phase that counts, not its year: Porsche's bulletins date the phases in North American model years. [6, 7, 8, 9]
Do PCCB ceramic brakes limit the wheel diameter on the 992.1?
Porsche excludes 19/20-inch winter wheels on 992.1 cars fitted with PCCB. The bulletins publish no exclusion for the 19/20-inch summer fitment. [6, 7]
What load index do the original 19/20-inch tyres of the 911 Carrera (992.1) have?
Porsche permits the 235/40 ZR19 with a load index of 96 (Y, XL) or 92 (Y) at the front, and the 295/35 ZR20 with a load index of 105 (Y, XL) or 101 (Y) at the rear. The XL versions carry 710 kg and 925 kg per tyre. [6, 7, 12]
Same fixing measurements
As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the Porsche 911 992: PCD 5x130, centre bore 71.6 mm, thread M14 x 1.5, fixing: wheel bolts; centre-lock nut on centre-lock versions.
- Porsche Taycan Y1A (since 2020)
Same fixing measurements; original diameters and offsets: see each car's page. The seat of the bolts or nuts, the width of the wheels and brake clearance are not compared here: this comparison is not an opinion on compatibility.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 10 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

Porsche 992 wheels: the measurements that decide
Many owners search for “992 wheels” without typing the word 911: the type code is enough to identify the car. The 911 (type 992), produced since 2019, keeps the marque's historic PCD, 5x130. Yet it is exactly the same as that of a 2005 997: so it is not enough to define a wheel that fits. On this generation, everything comes down to widths, diameters and offsets.
The original fitments, axle by axle
Porsche's technical data give, for the standard Carrera, 8.5J x 19 at the front and 11.5J x 20 at the rear, with 235/40 ZR19 and 295/35 ZR20 tyres. The Carrera S moves to 8.5J x 20 at the front and 11.5J x 21 at the rear, with 245/35 ZR20 and 305/30 ZR21. On the 992.1 Carrera and Targa, Porsche's bulletins on permitted wheels and tyres give ET 52 at the front in 19 inches and ET 53 in 20 inches, with ET 50 permitted depending on the wheel, and ET 67 at the rear, in 20 as in 21 inches. The ET 66 seen on an 11J x 20 is that of a winter wheel, not of a summer fitment. Above all, remember this: the two axles share neither the same width nor the same diameter. A front wheel and a rear wheel from a 992 are never interchangeable, and a set of four identical wheels does not exist on this car.
What the 992 changes compared with the 991
On the 991, narrow body and wide body coexisted, with two incompatible families of rear offsets: ET 70 on a rear-wheel-drive Carrera S, ET 52 on the wide body, for an 11J x 20 wheel in both cases. The 992 removed this distinction: Porsche did away with the narrow body, the Carrera measuring 1,852 mm excluding mirrors. The question “narrow body or wide body?”, decisive on the 991, no longer arises here. On the other hand, the rear has moved up a size, to 21 inches on the S versions: carrying a 991 set over to a 992 is ruled out.
Which 992 exactly: phase 2 and fixing type
The 992.2 facelift, unveiled on 28 May 2024, keeps the Carrera's widths and diameters, 8.5J x 19 and 11.5J x 20 with 235/40 ZR19 and 295/35 ZR20, but not its rear offsets: Porsche's bulletins give 11.5J x 20 ET 81 and 11.5J x 21 ET 79 on the 992.2 Carrera and Targa, against ET 67 on the 992.1. At the front, in 20 inches, the 992.2 Carrera and Targa are at ET 50, which the 992.1 permitted only depending on the wheel. A wheel designed for a 992.1 therefore cannot be carried over as it is to a 992.2: it is the car's phase that sets the measurements, and the registration document gives it to us before design work starts. Another point to watch: the Carrera and Carrera S are fixed with five bolts, while the Turbo, Turbo S, GT3 and GT3 RS (and, as an option, the GTS) have the centre lock. The two fixings are not interchangeable.
