Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Porsche 718 Cayman 982
What is the wheel tightening torque on a Porsche 718 Cayman (982)?
160 Nm, according to Porsche's bulletin on permitted wheels and tyres. [6, 8, 10]
Which 718 Cayman versions accept the 18-inch fitment in summer?
Only the base 718 Cayman. Porsche rules it out on the Cayman S (“not applicable for S models”, bulletin 21/22; “basic models only”, bulletin 34/24) and lists only the 20-inch summer fitment for the GTS, GTS 4.0 and T. In winter, the 18 and 19-inch fitments remain permitted on these versions. [8, 10]
What are the original fitments of the 718 Cayman GT4?
8.5J x 20 ET 61 with 245/35 ZR20 at the front, 11J x 20 ET 50 with 295/30 ZR20 at the rear. [9, 11]
What is the load index of the original 18-inch tyres on the 718 Cayman?
94 (Y) at the front with 235/45 ZR18 and 101 (Y) at the rear with 265/45 ZR18, i.e. 670 kg and 825 kg per tyre. [8, 10, 13]

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 10 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

Porsche 982 wheels: the same PCD (bolt pattern) as the 911, incompatible measurements
The type 982 718 Cayman, produced from 2016 to 2025, uses the 5x130 PCD, exactly like a 911. This is the number one trap on this generation: the PCD figure suggests a compatibility that does not exist. The original rear offset of a 718 lies between ET 45 and ET 50, whereas that of a 911 992 Carrera or Targa is ET 67 in phase 1 and ET 79 to ET 81 in phase 2. At least seventeen millimetres of difference, for a strictly identical PCD.
The original fitments, from 18 to 20 inches
In 18 inches, which Porsche reserves in summer for the base 718 Cayman (not the S, GTS or T), the car takes 8J x 18 ET 57 at the front and 9.5J x 18 ET 49 at the rear, with 235/45 ZR18 and 265/45 ZR18 tyres. In 19 inches, on the Cayman and Cayman S, 8J x 19 ET 57 and 10J x 19 ET 45, with 235/40 R19 and 265/40 R19; Porsche excludes this 19-inch fitment on the Style Edition, and the GTS, GTS 4.0 and T take only 20-inch wheels in summer. In 20 inches, two fitments exist: 8J x 20 ET 57 and 10J x 20 ET 45, or 8.5J x 20 ET 57 and 10.5J x 20 ET 47, both with 235/35 ZR20 and 265/35 ZR20. The GT4 and GT4 RS are a case apart, including at the front: 8.5J x 20 ET 61 and 11J x 20 ET 50, with 245/35 ZR20 and 295/30 ZR20. A front offset of ET 61 is found nowhere else in the range.
Mid-engine: why the front-to-rear difference is so small
On a type 992 911 Carrera, the rear wheel is three inches wider than the front, 11.5J against 8.5J, because the engine sits behind the rear axle. On a mid-engined 718, this difference shrinks to one and a half inches in 18 inches and to two inches in 19 and 20 inches; it is two and a half inches on a GT4. The consequence is direct: the 718's front axle works with a proportionally wider and more offset wheel, and it is therefore more sensitive to an offset error than a 911. This is why a design developed for a 911 is never carried over as it is to a 718: the calculation is redone from the car's measurements.
A closed generation: 2016-2025
Production of the combustion-engined 718 stopped in October 2025, after a run that began in 2016. The fleet is now fixed, and original sets (the GT4 and the 20-inch GTS wheels in particular) are becoming scarce. Having a custom set made then becomes the normal way to replace a damaged wheel without leaving the car with a mismatched set, or to equip a collector's example without drawing on a stock that will not be replenished.
