Original fitment measurements: Porsche 944 second series
The measurements of the car as delivered new, to identify yours and compare. Each value refers, by a number, to the sources that give it. They are not a recommendation: Onyx does not advise any specific offset.

The offset and width of your wheels do not come from a table: the Onyx Forged design office calculates them for your car and your brakes, and submits them to you before machining.
Frequently asked questions: wheels for the Porsche 944 second series
What PCD (bolt pattern) does a Porsche 944 use?
5x130, with a 71.6 mm centre bore and M14 x 1.5 wheel nuts, across the whole series up to 1991: SCC, wheelfitment.eu and ThreePiece.us give these figures. wheelfitment.eu states bolts, SCC and ThreePiece.us nuts: the Onyx Forged design office decides for your car, from its registration document or VIN and, if needed, a photo of the fitted wheel. The tightening torque is 130 Nm, according to Porsche. [1, 2, 3, 4]
What are the offsets for a 944 from 1987 to 1991?
Porsche gives an offset (RO) of 52.3 for the 7J x 15 wheels; in 16 inches, 52.3 or 55 at the front (7J) and 52.3 or 52 at the rear (8J). In 17 inches, 8J ET 52 at the front and 9.5J ET 68 at the rear, except on the convertible. The 184 kW 944 Turbo and the S2 with R01 chassis also have a 16-inch fitment in 7J ET 65 and 9J ET 60; on these cars, the 9.5J x 17 rear wheel requires a 17 mm spacer. [4]
And a 944 from 1982 to 1986?
For this car, Porsche's bulletin 72/20 gives 7J x 15 and 7J x 16 wheels with an offset (RO) of 23.3, and 8J rear wheels with an offset of 10.6 or 23.3. These offsets to the tenth do not fit in our table: they are in this answer, and the Onyx Forged design office uses them for your car, from its registration document or VIN. [5]
Fitting 17-inch wheels to a 944: what does Porsche require?
On 944s from 1987 to 1991, Porsche's bulletin requires the bushes (951.341.023.01) and the eccentric bolts (951.341.431.01) to be replaced, the wheel-arch lips to be rolled and a rear anti-roll bar to be fitted; the 8J ET 52 and 9.5J ET 68 fitment is not permitted on the convertible, and snow chains no longer fit. [4]
Same fixing measurements
As original equipment, these cars have the same PCD, centre bore, thread and fixing as the Porsche 944 second series: PCD 5x130, centre bore 71.6 mm, thread M14 x 1.5, fixing: wheel nuts.
- Porsche 911 964 (1989–1994)
- Porsche 911 993 (1994–1998)
- Porsche 911 G-model (1974–1989)
- Porsche 968 coupé and convertible (1991–1995)
Same fixing measurements; original diameters and offsets: see each car's page. The seat of the bolts or nuts, the width of the wheels and brake clearance are not compared here: this comparison is not an opinion on compatibility.

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 20 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

Custom forged wheels for the Porsche 944 second series
- Forged 6061-T6 aluminium
- 5-axis CNC machining
- Designed to JWL/VIA standards
- Fitment worked out for your Porsche 944 second series
944 from 1987 to 1991: 5x130 on a 71.6 mm hub
The Porsche 944 of model years 1987 to 1991, 944 S, S2 and Turbo included, uses 5x130 on a 71.6 mm hub, with M14 x 1.5 wheel nuts: SCC and ThreePiece.us give nuts, wheelfitment.eu bolts; we go with the majority value, and the Onyx Forged design office checks it for your car. Porsche sets the wheel tightening torque at 130 Nm.
The fitments Porsche lists, from 15 to 17 inches
For the 7J x 15 wheels, Porsche gives an offset of 52.3, and in 16 inches an offset of 52.3 or 55 at the front (7J) and 52.3 or 52 at the rear (8J). These offsets, given to the tenth or as two alternative values, do not fit in our table, which only takes whole numbers: the cells stay empty and Porsche's values are given here. In 17 inches, Porsche lists 8J ET 52 at the front and 9.5J ET 68 at the rear, with 225/45 ZR17 and 255/40 ZR17 tyres, except on the convertible; on the 184 kW 944 Turbo and the S2 with R01 chassis, the rear wheel then requires a 17 mm spacer on each wheel. The 184 kW 944 Turbo and the S2 with R01 chassis also have a 16-inch fitment, 7J ET 65 and 9J ET 60. The bulletin does not say which fitment a given car had on delivery.
Fitting 17-inch wheels to a 944
Porsche sets conditions: replace the bushes and the eccentric bolts, roll the wheel-arch lips, fit a rear anti-roll bar; snow chains no longer fit. The design office starts from these conditions and, if needed, from a photo of the fitted wheel.
The period look, to your measurements
A custom forged wheel can keep what gives a car of this period its look: a flat or shallow face, wide spokes, a polished, brushed or painted finish. What is not chosen by eye is the width and the offset: they depend on the car, its wings and its brakes, and it is the Onyx Forged design office that works them out for your car, then submits them to you.
A modern classic on forged wheels: what we check
- The roadworthiness test. The French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique) examines the wheel without removing it (cracks, deformation, a wheel that sticks out beyond the bodywork) and checks that the tyre size is provided for by the manufacturer or accepted as equivalent; it neither validates nor rejects a modification, which is a matter for vehicle approval (réception) and the registration document (roadworthiness test and registration document). The table gives tyre sizes that Porsche lists, with their source.
- Tyres for a classic. Porsche lists only specific tyre makes and types, marked with an N code (N0, N1, N2…) on the sidewall, and asks for the same type, the same speed rating and the same code on all four wheels.
- A widened body. The wide fitments of the Turbo and the S2 already require the wheel-arch lips to be rolled; on a non-catalogue widened body, the design office starts, if needed, from a photo of the fitted wheel.
- Bigger brakes. Calipers larger than the car's own change the minimum wheel diameter and the clearance behind the spokes: we start from the caliper fitted, not the one in the catalogue, if needed from a photo of the fitted wheel.
And the 944 from 1982 to 1986?
Porsche gives it offsets to the tenth (23.3 for the 7J wheels): it has its own page, the 944 from 1982 to 1986, where they are written out, and they are also in the questions on this page.
Configure your forged wheels for the Porsche 944 (1987-1991)
The Onyx Forged design office works out the measurements of your car from its exact version, stated on the registration document, and shows them to you before machining.
