What are the original offsets on a BMW M5 (F90)?
In 20 inches: 28 mm front and rear, on 9.5J and 10.5J. In 19 inches: 26 mm at the front (9.5J) and 28 mm at the rear (10.5J), according to the BMW M GmbH list of wheels and tyres. [2, 7, 8, 9]

Publication rule: a measurement is shown only if a primary source gives it (a manufacturer's document, an official vehicle type record, an original parts catalogue, the maker of the original wheel) without another primary source contradicting it, or if two independent specialist sources agree without a primary source contradicting them. The press and forums do not count. Measurements checked on 10 October 2026 by the Onyx Forged design office.

An “F” code, a “G” bolt pattern: the M5 F90 is 5x112
This is the counter-example that breaks the rule everyone remembers from the forums. It is often repeated that BMWs on F chassis are 5x120 and those on G chassis 5x112; the M5 F90 carries an F, yet it is 5x112. The explanation lies in the platform: the F90 is derived from the G30 5 Series, not from the F10 that preceded it, and the F10 is indeed 5x120. The letter of the generation code is therefore not a reliable indicator of the PCD (bolt pattern); the platform is. The X5 M plays exactly the same tune: F85 on 5x120, F95 on 5x112.
The first four-wheel-drive M5
The F90 introduces M xDrive all-wheel drive to the M5, with a selectable rear-wheel-drive mode. This changes what is asked of the front wheel, which now has to transmit drive as well as steer and brake. The loads taken by the front wheel centre are no longer those of a rear-wheel-drive M5, and the sizing cannot be carried over from the previous generation. This is a point we deal with when we record the measurements: on an F90, the front is not a guiding wheel; it is a driven wheel that also steers.
Two original diameters, and offsets that differ
In 19 inches, the F90 comes on 9.5J at the front, with an offset of 26 mm and 275/40 ZR19 tyres, and 10.5J at the rear, on 285/40 ZR19. The 20-inch fitment keeps the same widths, with an offset of 28 mm at the front and at the rear, on 275/35 ZR20 and 285/35 ZR20. Two millimetres of difference at the front between the two fitments: it is not much, it is exactly the kind of detail a generic “M5” data sheet glosses over, and it is what decides how flush the wheel sits with the wing.
A large saloon: unsprung mass costs twice
An M5 F90 is long, wide and heavy, and it is used as much for crossing a country as for hard acceleration. On this kind of car, every kilogram taken off the wheel counts twice: once in rotational inertia, once in mass that the damping has to control over motorway expansion joints. High-pressure forging of a 6061-T6 billet aligns the grain of the metal with the direction of the stresses and removes the porosity of casting; for the same permissible load, material is removed where it does no work. On a saloon of this size, this is not a refinement; it is what makes a large diameter bearable day to day.
Configure your BMW M5 F90 wheels
Monoblock when lightness comes first, two-piece or three-piece for barrel depth and for widths a monoblock cannot reach. Our wheels are designed to JWL/VIA standards and machined on a 5-axis CNC.
